The Department of Commerce announced today that Project Performance Corporation (PPC) has been awarded a Commerce Information Technology Solutions (COMMITS) NexGen contract. PPC is one of 51 small firms to be awarded the coveted government-wide acquisition vehicle, following a rigorous, two-phased competition in which some hundreds of companies presented their qualifications. In notifying PPC of the award, the Department of Commerce noted that PPCÂ?s proposal was Â?among the highest rated.Â? First awarded in 1999 to 58 small businesses, this round of awards represents the second cycle of competition for the contracting vehicle.

In addition to ensuring delivery of top-quality IT services, COMMITS also provides a streamlined acquisition methodology by pre-qualifying a talented pool of small businesses, which now includes PPC, that can readily meet the governmentÂ?s IT requirements. The COMMITS structure does not include fixed labor rates, categories, or line items, leaving client agencies and COMMITS contractors free to develop the most effective, most results-oriented models possible for each unique requirement.

PPCÂ?s winning COMMITS proposal emphasized

Â?    The firmÂ?s solutions-oriented approach, describing, among other corporate successes, an outstanding record of performance at the Department of CommerceÂ?s Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), where PPC is one of two prime contractors providing IT services under a multi-million-dollar systems engineering contract; and where PPCÂ?s first three formal evaluations have resulted in Â?excellentÂ? ratings;

Â?    PPCÂ?s dedication to innovative management practices, which resulted this summer in the companyÂ?s external assessment to CMMI Maturity Level II, and which have consistently enabled the firm to exceed quality, time, and budget expectations;

Â?    Repeated success in teaming, partnering, and subcontracting environments within the federal government;

Â?    Broad experience with performance-based contracting; and

Â?    Numerous awards and extensive recognition from loyal clients.

PPCÂ?s program manager for COMMITS, W. Randall Shangraw, voiced the companyÂ?s delight at being awarded the vehicle. Â?As one of the highest-rated awardees of COMMITS NexGen contract, we look forward to continuing to provide unsurpassed IT solutions to government customers. This contract will provide a streamlined method for customers to work with top-notch small businesses like PPC.Â?
